Pikey Peak offers what many consider the finest panoramic mountain viewpoint in Nepal — Sir Edmund Hillary reportedly called it the best place to view Everest. From the summit at 4,065m, the panorama stretches across an extraordinary arc from Kanchenjunga (8,586m) in the east through Makalu, Everest, Lhotse, and all the way to Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the west.
The trek passes through the Solu region of Solukhumbu — the ancestral homeland of the Sherpa people. The trail winds through traditional Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries including Junbesi Gompa, terraced farmland, and dense rhododendron forests.
Pikey Peak is increasingly recognized as one of Nepal's best short treks for those who want Himalayan grandeur without the altitude, crowds, or expense of EBC. No expensive permits or flights are required — access is by road from Kathmandu to Dhap (about 8-10 hours). The moderate altitude means altitude sickness is rarely an issue.
