This classic ridge walk connects two of the Kathmandu Valley's most famous viewpoints through rolling hills, terraced rice paddies, and traditional Tamang and Newar villages. The route follows the valley's eastern rim with near-continuous views of the Himalayan range on clear days, stretching from Everest to Langtang.
The trail passes through the villages of Tusal and Kartike, where traditional life continues largely unchanged. Beautiful terraced farmland lines the route, and the combination of mountain scenery, rural culture, and comfortable terrain makes this one of the best day hikes in Nepal.
This is a one-way hike, so arrange vehicle pickup at the other end. Most hikers start at Nagarkot (for the sunrise) and end in Dhulikhel.
