The Langtang region lies just 30km north of Kathmandu as the crow flies, making it the most accessible major trekking area in Nepal. Protected within Langtang National Park (established 1976), the region encompasses the Langtang Valley, the sacred Gosaikunda Lakes, and the culturally rich Helambu area.
The Langtang Valley trek follows a spectacular glacially carved valley flanked by 7,000m peaks. Gosaikunda is a sacred pilgrimage trek to 108 glacial lakes revered by Hindus and Buddhists. The Helambu trek winds through the homeland of the Hyolmo people, offering ancient monasteries and rhododendron forests accessible even in winter.
All three treks can be combined into a comprehensive 2-3 week itinerary via the Laurebina La pass (4,610m). The region's Tamang and Hyolmo cultures, with their Tibetan Buddhist roots, distinctive architecture, and warm hospitality, are integral to the trekking experience.
